Embark on a picturesque coastal walk that spans approximately 16 kilometers from Balchik to Kranevo or choose a shorter 5-kilometer route from Albena to Kranevo. Both options promise breathtaking views, serene landscapes, and charming beachside spots.
Route Options
Full Route: Balchik – Albena – Kranevo (16 km)
Shorter Route: Albena – Kranevo (5 km) along the sea
Starting Point: Balchik
Begin your adventure in Balchik, a beautiful coastal town with two route options:
Highway Route: A straightforward path along the highway.
Scenic Route: A more immersive experience along the alley by the sea, offering stunning coastal views. Be prepared for a brief off-road section before reaching Albena. Note that the road here can be broken due to landslides, so proceed with caution.
Reaching Albena
Choose the safer option by taking the road from above due to potential landslides. Alternatively, descend via the steep Fichoza staircase, arriving at a tranquil beach where the Arabella restaurant once stood.
Exploring Albena
Avenue Walk: Stroll along Albena’s main avenue, admiring beautifully landscaped flower gardens and uniquely designed hotels named after heroines from classical Bulgarian literature. The resort itself, Albena, is named after a character from Yordan Yovkov’s story.
Gergana Hotel: The last hotel before the Baltata reserve. Cross the bridge here to enter the reserve.
Baltata Reserve
Green Path: Enjoy a walk along the green path behind the dunes, shaded by lush greenery and trees. This path leads directly into the reserve.
Dirt Road: Follow the dirt road for cars for about 20 minutes to reach Kranevo.
Arriving in Kranevo
Terma Palace Complex: In Kranevo, you’ll find the Terma Palace Complex, featuring three hotels, an Olympic-sized pool, and a year-round ice rink. The gardens are beautifully maintained, providing a peaceful atmosphere.
Beachfront: Explore the beach, where numerous restaurants, bars, and cafes are scattered along the coast. Enjoy a meal or a drink while taking in the sea views.
Town Center: The center of Kranevo boasts various shops selling beachwear, fashion items, and souvenirs. There are also plenty of spots to relax and enjoy cool drinks and delicious food.
Return Options
Coastal Walk: Return to Albena along the coast, enjoying the cooling waves for a gentle and therapeutic experience.
Public Transport: If you prefer not to walk back, take public transport from the bus station at the entrance of Albena back to Balchik.

Safety First: Be cautious of landslides and broken paths, especially between Balchik and Albena.
Comfort: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring plenty of water, especially if you plan to walk the entire 16 km.
